Rescue Diver CourseThis course is an important step in expanding a diver's knowledge beyond a purely recreational level and is a prerequisite for all PADI dive leadership courses such as Divemaster or Instructor. As well as being highly recommended, the Rescue Diver Course is one of the most enjoyable diving courses you will take. Having completed the course, you will find that your confidence and comfort level will have increased drastically.
Although the course is extremely enjoyable and very satisfying, by its very nature, it is a serious one designed to develop the necessary knowledge and skills for you to be able to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, manage diving accident situations and render proper first aid. The primary emphasis of the course is on preventing the need for a rescue.
ContentThe course will cover self rescue, diver stress, diving First Aid and CPR, emergency management and equipment considerations. The confined water sessions will cover skills such as in-water rescue, equipment removal and transportation and the open water sessions will cover potential situations involving panicked/tired divers, missing divers, injured or unconscious divers and diving accident scenarios, etc. |
PrerequisitesPrior to taking this course you must be qualified to a minimum standard of Advanced Diver and you must hold a valid first aid and CPR qualification, current within the last 3 years. The Rescue Diver course can be combined with a Emergency First Response Course to fulfil this requirement. |
TimetableThe course is run over two weekends. The Saturday of the first is devoted to the Emergency First Response Course (should this be required) and the Sunday is devoted to pool training and academics. The second weekend will take place at an open water dive site and will be devoted to practical exercises. |
CostThe cost of the Rescue Diver Course is £295, including full instruction, equipment rental, manual, course materials and certification card. |
